Barbara Karuth-Zelle is Group Chief Operating Officer and Member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE. In this role, which she took on in 2021, she oversees the sustainable digital transformation of the Allianz Group, as well as the harmonization and automation of operating processes integrated in our global business model, the Allianz Customer Model (ACM). She began her career at Allianz in the year 2000 in health insurance. Since then, she has held various executive positions in Allianz companies, including CEO of Allianz Technology.
A health economist by training, Barbara studied business at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and received her doctorate in economics at the University of the German Federal Armed Forces in Munich. She has had a lifelong passion for the ocean, nature and sustainability, having earlier in her life explored careers in farming and marine biology. An avid deep-sea diver, Barbara works actively to conserve the ocean and protect our climate and biodiversity.
